Fuel Rail/System Pressure — Too High
What P0088 means
P0088 is the opposite of P0087: the fuel pressure sensor reports more pressure than commanded. Too much pressure over-fuels the engine and stresses injectors, lines, and seals. It is most common on high-pressure direct-injection and diesel systems.

- Check engine light on
- Rough running or hard starting
- Black smoke from the exhaust (diesel) or fuel smell
- Reduced fuel economy
- Possible limp mode
